Black Cloud Again
This was originally posted on my main blog, "I Make Things." I thought it ought to appear here too:
Not happy. My computer fell off the table where it was charging and died. We're traveling so I don't have access to my backup hard drives. Also, my iPad was plugged into the computer when it fell so the iPad is compromised too.
That is the tip of the iceberg though.
The first Christmas without Dad is being more challenging than I though it would be (for me at least) so I'm in a crappy mood to begin with.
Hey - at least the weather's nice, the company's good, The food is good, Fay is healthy, I have a home to go back to, I have back ups for most of my files, my novel is safe and overall I'm in good shape.
There's light around the edge of this black cloud. Now I need a good wind to blow the damned thing away.

Today's Stressors
Without further ado:
My dog is sick (the bloody diarrhea is back with bonus poor appetite plus she's torn both of her cruciate ligaments and needs knee surgery)
My dad is sick
I'm trying to help my friend deal with her scary marriage
I have to find somewhere to put nine raspberry bushes (what the hell was I thinking???)
I'm old
I'm bigger around than I'd like to be
I'm crazy and useless and I can't explain myself

I'm Chicken
Some people I know aren't happy unless they're looking for trouble. It's like they're adrenaline junkies in need of a constant low-level supply.
Up at dawn watching Fox news, passing on scandalous e-mails without checking at snopes.com first. They probably think they're just trying to stay informed.
There's a vast difference between being informed and being misinformed.
Being anxious about something that isn't true is a complete waste of time at best. In the middle, it'll negatively impact your health and at worst it can get innocent people killed. There's nothing constructive about it. Not one thing.
It's much better to concentrate on what you can do to make the world a better place where you are. Concentrate on building your own world and not on taking down someone else's. Worry too much about your neighbor's business and you neglect your own.
If you feel too comfortable in your life and need some shaking up, go to a scary movie. Don't go spreading lies about other people.
Besides, there's no shortage of terrible things going on in this world. Why not do something about a problem that is real?

We Are All So Screwed
I have thought for some time that McCain is going to win the election because so many people in this country are too fucking racist to vote for Obama.
The thought of a McCain victory was not my first choice but I could live with it. He's not that bad - certainly a VAST improvement on the Bush administration. At least the guy acts like a rational adult. I might disagree with him but he seems to have a relatively flexible outlook and he appears to consider various sources of information and other opinions before he makes a judgement.
So what the HELL was he thinking when he chose George W. Bush in a skirt for his running mate?
Okay, I know he was thinking "I'm gonna win!"
Sarah Palin is a woman. I don't think she'll win over a lot of Hillaryites though because she's just as pig-headedly arrogant as W.
If McCain goes down for some reason (he seems vigorous but so so a lot of people who drop dead) she's in charge. She's a freaking yahoo! Trying to ban books and get people she doesn't agree with fired. She doesn't believe in Global Warming. She's a freaking Evolutionist! She's just like those people who believe that Obama's a Muslim and he's going to sell the country to the terrorists. Willful belief in absurd things because it feels more comfortable than confronting the truth. Someone like that should not be at the helm of the United States of America.
That whole Muslim thing is another story. Jesus H. Christ! NOT ALL MUSLIMS ARE TERRORISTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What the hell is wrong with you people?????
Timothy McVeigh was a white guy, a veteran, lapsed Catholic, registered Republican and NRA member. People don't go around thinking "All white guys are terrorists" or "All veterans are terrorists" or "All lapsed Catholics are terrorists" or "All Republicans are terrorists." No mobs beat up white veterans after the Oklahoma City bombing but plenty of brown-skinned people or people who looked like they might be Muslim were in for it. STUPID!!!!!!!!!!!!
YOU CAN'T TELL IF SOMEONE'S A POTENTIAL MURDERER JUST BY LOOKING AT THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DUH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We are so screwed.

More G.D. Diarrhea
The prescription cat food that Fay has been eating to treat her diarrhea has been discontinued without warning. I have been forced to feed her a new formula cold, with no transition. The result: her diarrhea is back with a vengeance. It's a diarrhea deluge!
GGGGRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!
